Waiting on the Lord

We all face moments when anxiety feels overwhelming — when the mind won’t quiet down and the heart won’t stop racing.
And sometimes, as believers, we feel guilty for feeling this way.
But hear this truth clearly:

Feeling anxious does not mean you lack faith.
It means you are human — and you need the Lord’s help.

“When my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.”
— Psalm 61:2

God does not shame His children.
He invites. He comforts. He carries.

1. Breathe and Remember You’re Not Alone

Anxiety tries to convince you that you are isolated, forgotten, or powerless.
None of those things are true.

God is present, even when your emotions feel heavy.

Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is pause and breathe.
Slowly.
Deeply.
Intentionally.

Inhale: "The Lord is near."

Exhale: "I will not fear."

2. Speak God’s Word Out Loud

Your thoughts may feel loud — but God’s Word is louder.

Verses to speak over your soul:

  • 2 Timothy 1:7 — God gave us a sound mind.

  • Psalm 94:19 — His comfort brings joy to an anxious heart.

  • Philippians 4:6-7 — His peace guards our hearts and minds.

Do not just read these — speak them.
There is power when truth is spoken over fear.

3. Give Your Burdens to God — Even If You Have to Do It 10 Times a Day

Surrender is not a one-time moment — it is a rhythm.

Say this honestly:

Lord, I’m anxious — and I need You.

I give this to You again… and again… and again.

God would rather hear your repeated cry
than silence that tries to pretend everything is okay.

4. Don’t Fight Anxiety Alone

Isolation makes anxiety louder.
Community quiets it.

Reach out to:

  • A pastor

  • A trusted friend

  • A Christian counselor

  • A small group

Sometimes healing begins simply by saying:
“I’m struggling. Can you pray with me?”

5. Rest in the God Who Holds You

God is not waiting on you to be “strong enough.”
He is the strength.

Your role is not to hold it all together —
but to allow Him to hold you.

A Prayer for Anxiety

Lord, when my mind is troubled and my heart is overwhelmed,

be my peace. Calm my spirit, steady my thoughts, and help me trust You.

Replace my fear with Your strength and Your presence.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

If you are walking through anxiety, you don’t have to walk alone.

We would be honored to pray with you, encourage you, and walk by your side.
Join us this Sunday — there is a place for you here.
